Harry Bodine

Harry has steadily gained recognition over the years for his songwriting skills and abilities as a slide guitarist. Harry's first solo CD is scheduled for release in November 2006. The CD will feature eleven songs written by Harry. The CD was recorded at Arlyn Studios, engineered by Jacob Sciba ( Gov’t Mule) and Harry Bodine. It was mixed by acclaimed engineer Stuart Sullivan (Sublime, Robert Plant, Jimmy Vaughn, etc.) at Wire Recording . Both studios are located in Austin, Texas.

Harry spent five years as the principal songwriter and guitarist for the Austin based band, Delta Roux in which he founded in 1999. German based Taxim Records, released two Delta Roux CDs, Bad Wind Blowin and Only A Fool. Both were well received by critics and fans alike. Germany's Rolling Stone magazine music critic Jorg Gulden included Delta Roux's CD Bad Wind Blowin in his picks for the ten best releases of 2000. The band shared stages with the likes of Aaron Neville, Leon Russell, Delbert McClinton, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

Harry's interest in music increased after he dropped out of high school from his hometown in central New York State. He started playing bass guitar the same time his older brother Howard was learning to play the six string.

Howard taught Harry the Blind Lemon Jefferson's song Easy Rider Blues, after which he was hooked on the blues and switched from bass to guitar. Harry's passion for slide guitar was inspired by Duane Allman's work on the Allman Brothers' Fillmore East album and the Derek and the Dominos' Layla album.

At seventeen, Harry hitchhiked across the U.S. with his guitar and was exposed to a variety of music and musicians. He learned fingerpicking from a banjo player, country gospel from truck drivers and blues tunes from street musicians. He started his professional career playing in blues, R & B, and rock bands around Ithaca, N.Y. After a few years, he got the itch to hit the road again and headed to Austin, TX, a place he had visited in his earlier travels and currently lives.
